Every day in law school I feel like I’m just trying to survive. And those are the good days.
Everyone in law school comes to a point where they consider dropping out. It may be a fleeting thought or, for most, a period of a few weeks, trudging through the work they have to do day after day and praying for this hell to finally be over.
The fact that law school commonly causes complete mental breakdowns (for me, it was a 11 day stint in the psych ward) is shocking, and to be frank, unacceptable.
We need a system that values our mental health (and not just with that stupid Ginger app which we all know does not work). The workload, the extracurriculars, THE CURVE- it is all too much. Are we really being taught how to be lawyers? Or are we being taught not to drown in a endless storm? How much of this is really helping us to be a lawyer? Nothing. SO WHY ARE WE SPENDING SO MUCH TIME AND MONEY DOING THIS!!!!!!!!!!!???????????? WHY AM I HERE???!!! IS THIS ALL GOING TO BE WORTH IT EVEN???? WHEN IS IT GOING TO BE OVER, DEAR GOD???

I’ve always been smart. I remember when I was a kid I was the one who would always raise their hand and wave it in the air, begging to be called on. I ROCKED around-the-world multiplication tables. High school wasn’t too bad and college was a breeze. So when I heard about how difficult law school was, I thought it would be bad…but not this bad.
